Smart Contracts Working Group

Working Group Health

The overall health is OK. The work products are progressing. We started a collaboration with the Performance WG. New contributors/participants are joining but many old participants either stopped attending or participate in other WG or started a WG/SIG of their own. So participation and contribution should be boosted somehow, any advice is welcome.

Issues

Participation is an issue from time to time.

Overall Activity in the Past Quarter

The taxonomy has been sent to the TSC for review, and it still gathers participants attention and contribution. The White Paper regarding SC in the Public sector is about to be sent for review to the TSC. A collaboration with the Performance WG (Vipin and Mark) has started regarding the Provenance Use case and a table gathering blockchain Business and Use cases are being formed. Law subjects have received attention from two lawyers who are contributing their knowledge regarding legal matters.

Participant Diversity

The SC WG has a steady number of participants/contributors. They are not many but they are different from the ones started, so in general, I can say that the WG can overcome single participant departure.

Additional Information

The Taxonomy has to be Reviewed by the TSC, we should set a date to present it.

  1. Thanks for the update. Regarding the taxonomy you may want to add a review checklist like the one at the end of this report. Then you will know that the TSC members have read it. I suspect everyone has. If you are looking for feedback you may have to suggest types of feedback as there is not a whole lot that can be said objectively or even subjectively about a word map.

    1. Thanks Dan, will do

  2. The TSC agenda is on the wiki and editable by all. Feel free to add The Taxonomy review item to it when it works for you.

    Thanks.

  3. What's the approximate number of participants by medium (i.e. meeting attendance, email volume, etc.)?  It's hard to infer a number based on this report.

    Thanks!

    1. Hart it depends! But I would say most times 3-5

      1. Thanks for the response!  And we would love to continue to hear your feedback on the working group task force.

        1. You are very welcome! Sorry for the late reply... I will keep informing all of you of our progress. We have a draft white paper about Smart Contracts in the public sector. We will explore in the next couple of weeks opportunities to collaborate with the Public Sector SIG on it and will let you know as soon as it is ready for review
